2002 Gujrat Riot Aid
Ahmadabad and other riots (28th March – 6th
April 2002) affected areas of Gujrat aid distribution. During five days of
stay in Ahmadabad, despite night curfews and other hurdles, five camps
were visited to witness the victims and find out their short, medium and
long term needs and allocate aid accordingly. Since temporary food,
medicine and shelter was provided by mix of local and government sources,
there were no immediate pressing needs as such. But it was brought to our
attention that riot affected families not sheltering in the camps are
similar in numbers and they were neglected, thus a food kit consisting the
following were arranged to be distributed among 363 families across
Ahmadabad and other affected areas as an when they were needed.
