A large number of affected Kashmiri families cannot participate fully in such yearly festive religious occasions as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. Mercy Universal’s Eid-Gift-Aid scheme gives needy families a sense of belonging to the community and reinforces their cultural heritage. Affected families are provided financial assistance to cater to their needs during the month-long fasting period of Ramadan, which culminates in rejoicing with clothes for children on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr and distribution of meat to them during Eid-ul-Adha.

“Mercy Universal has spent £65,000 so far and requires £100,000 for this year”

Education is out of reach for many Kashmiri Children. Mercy Universal believes that education is vital in improving the future prospects for the children of Kashmir. For this reason we have set up 10 community centres and provided financial help for the building of these centres where Primary & Secondary education is provided on a priority basis. More than 500 students from affected families have benefited from Mercy Universal’s primary education. Mercy Universal also helps students go on to further education with scholarships.

“Mercy Universal needs your donations to help continue its medical welfare initiatives“ The on-going strife in Jammu and Kashmir has resulted in the deterioration of every facility that is geared for the medical welfare of the people. Medical care is practically non-existent in many parts of Kashmir especially in Jammu province. To alleviate this problem Mercy Universal has set up welfare facilities. It initially opened a Mercy Medical Centre at Doda and second Mercy Medical Centre at Rajuri. Though representing a small beginning, the two centres, manned by qualified doctors and supported by Para-medical staff, provide free medical care to needy.

This is primarily for people whose entire localities have been burnt down, as well as those who have lost their homes, as a result of strife, have no shelter and nothing left even to make a meager living. Mercy Universal has assisted them by providing cash to buy food, clothing, and materials for restoring their burnt houses and also loans if required.
